Thought: The value of a day

At 12:01 am you have the gift of a new day. The previous day is now gone and it was either wasted or you made the best of it. Value today, my friends.

This thought came from a blog I follow, RazzMatazz.

The Haircut

Upon recommendation from a hostess at a restaurant here in Cocoa, I made an appointment with a curly hair specialist for a haircut.  I went today.

Here is a front and back view of before and after:

This is Linda, the stylist that cute my hair.  She was wonderful.
The hair in the picture belongs to Michelle.  She was just getting done with her.
What a great experience.  Hope I can keep it up.  The only brush I am to use
is my fingers!

Florida Royal Red Shrimp

Only a few captains with large boats are capable of working the rugged Royal Red Shrimp fishery.  Spending their lives in the deep waters of the Gulf Stream, these unique animals are among the cleanest shrimp caught. Their entire life cycle is spent 1200 feet below the surface of the water, away from the perils and pollutants of the coastal waters.  Florida's Royal Red Shrimp are a true delicacy with the distinctive sweet taste and tender texture.  They are yummy!  They are only available in the spring.

We had these at Dixie Crossroads in Titusville.
They bring these wonderful hot corn fritters to your table too.  They were so yummy~

Fashion Model

Finally revealed, the sweater I made for Joslyn for Christmas.  We didn't see her over Christmas.  I was hoping to get to Chicago but it just didn't happen.  I was so afraid that she would grow so quickly that the sweater wouldn't fit her, so I mailed out this week.

Here is Joslyn in her Aunt Barbie creation:
It looks like she can wear it for a little while yet.  It was the first sweater I've ever made.  Thank you to Renee at The Needlesmith in Grand Haven, MI for your excellent lessons.

CoCoa Beach == Coconuts

The people here are so friendly and willing to share information on things to do and places to eat.  There is an abundance of restaurants. Our new friend, Ruth,  recommended Coconuts and their Crawfish and Corn Chowder.  Fast forward, we went and checked it out.
This is the view from outside seating at CoConuts.
This is Richie looking at two skinny girls in bikini's
The Chowder was pretty good....had a "kick" to it indeed!

We understand tonight there is a launch at the space center 7:30 p.m.
Hope to get a few pics from the beach.

Nice birthday dinner

Last evening we celebrated my birthday at Miliken's Reef in Port Canaveral. Great seafood. I had Scallops La Croya and Richie had stuffed flounder. Birthday dessert was Peanut Butter Stack. YUM! Oh, I had a nice Pinot Grigio from Italy.

Vintage Camper Progress

My hubby has been diligently working away at the camper he brought home for me last fall.

He pretty literally gutted the inside and started from just the bones.  I am so thrilled with his progress.
White Bead Board for Walls and New White Ceiling

Nice White Closet

Wall for Kitchen Cabinet - install electrical wiring
We purchased the flooring today....I am really excited.  It's a nice gray with a tad of white running through it.
Can't wait to show you that once it is laid.

Hubby is beginning to work on building the cabinets.  Next up would be the bed frame and the booth seats.
I was looking at doing the seats in a White Faux Baby Ostrich Leather.  It would look so nice.  My thought is fabric could stretch too much sliding in and out of seats.
This is faux baby ostrich leather - showed in brown so you can see texture.
Next up is looking for counter tops.  Am looking for something fun in aqua or gray.

Stay tuned for progress reports.

Snow is on its way! Winter Storm Warning now in effect!  Off to do some ironing and make pizza dough from scratch.  Perfect day to stay inside!

Sunday Dinner

The initial thought was to have my Mother over for Sunday dinner.  Well, it went from one to having ten.

The Menu
Baked Meatlof
Scalloped Potatoes
 Winter Squash
Broccoli and Cauliflower with Italian Bread Crumbs
Mixed Greens with Feta and Cranberries
Hot Rolls
Chocolate Chip Cookie Ramekins out of the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Could this begin a Sunday tradition?  All of of us kids remember my Mom picking up Grandpa every Sunday for dinner.  We need to return the kindness to Mother.  It's now her turn!

Saturday Project

What a fun little project!  DIY Organizer for Inside Cupboard Door.

I am forever cleaning up things on the kitchen counter and trying to organize.  I hate clutter on the counter but it never fails....it accumulates.  I came across this DIY Project yesterday on In My Own Style blog.  So, I gave it a whirl today.   I used fabric scraps, ribbon, lace and burlap..
I think it turned out pretty darn good. We'll see now how long I actually use it.  If you'd like instructions on how to make your own, click on this link Momtastic

On My Needles!

I started this cowl this week.  It is so fun to knit and so easy.  Two skeins of yarn....400 yards.
Each round is 220 stitches so it will take a while but it's a good winter knit.  The color I choose is a lot different but very me.  Mustard-y..  Found the free pattern on Ravelry.  Let me know if you'd like a copy.

I'll keep you in the loop.

Gorgeous day here --- almost 50 degrees.  Unbelievable!  Feels like spring and it's January 6!
Have a great weekend.
