Sunday Dinner

No Saturday morning coffee, Sunday dinner instead. Quick and easy and delicious.

Chicken Pot Pie, yes from scratch. Allrecipes.com had 6000 reviews for this recipe and rated five stars. So how can I not give it a try. Delicious.

Served it with a broccoli slaw salad with cranberries, sunflower seeds and a few toasted almonds. Dessert was Date Upside Down Cake with Sweetened REAL whipped cream.

Maggie, Phil, Mother, Richard and I had a comfort food dinner! Delicious! One little corner of pot pie leftover. Sorry I forgot to take a picture right out of the oven...I remembered when it was half devoured.

Anyone want the recipe? If so, let me know. It's in my Paprika app so easy to send!

Amazing Sight

I am a witness of a miracle that only happens once in a while. And this one was pretty cool.

So what is it?

It is the ring around the sun. We saw it down in Orlando on one of first days. Also known as a 22 degree halo or a sun halo, the ring is caused by sunlight passing through ice crystals in cirrus clouds within the Earth’s atmosphere.

While the beautiful sight may complement the springtime weather, the sun halo is not limited to a certain season and can happen anytime, anywhere, depending on the viewer’s vantage point and the sun’s position. However, the occasional sighting — similar to a rainbow — is more common in the fall, winter and spring ”when the northern jet stream descends southward, drawing down Arctic air masses,” according to NASA.

In case you are not one of the fortunate ones to view this, here is a picture of it. Enjoy!

Friday Five

One. Had a great trip to Orlando. It was warm but NO sun. Not sure what was up with that. Despite the clouds, we enjoyed the temperatures and not having to wear a coat. Our toes loved the fresh air wearing sandals.

Two. My husband was happy to see me return back home. This was the first time at being home alone for any length of time. He survived but admitted he wouldn't like that way of life.

Three. The yard has been cleaned up and fertilized. I have to get busy now clearing an area for my zinnias. I so want a cutting garden. My fear ...the deer.

Look right above the gas grill, this one and two of her buddies were hanging in our yard. They have chewed many of my flowers in the past; they will have a feast in the zinnia garden....must devise a fenced area of sorts.

Four. The sun is out today. I brought a lawn chair out and sat it on the deck. It's glorious in the sun.

Five. Making "to do” lists for the spring. We must power wash the deck and the house, stain the deck, trim back bushes, paint the front door (maybe replace it). The list continues to grow.

Have a fine weekend. I know I plan on it.

Gettin' in the Groove

This past weekend, Lynne and I went to the Winter Park Farmer's Market. We selected some annuals for the empty planter in Mike and. Marlene's front yard.

Viola'....gosh it felt good to dig in the dirt!

Heading home. Tomorrow!

Three. Eating, drinking.

Four. Attended the Jersey Boys at the Bob Carr Auditorium last night. Excellent.

Five. Relax...guess you'll try that another day. Off to Cocoa beach today.

Friday Five

One. Day trip to Chicago to meet our little lady, Miss Madelyn. Precious, tiny, beautiful.

Modeling sweater Aunt Barbie knitted for her.

Two. It was 73 degrees. Glorious. Their community was hosting an Easter egg hunt today. Daddy was practicing with Jojo ...teaching how to pick up the eggs quickly and put them in a basket.

Dragana, Maggie, Josie and Daddy.

Three. Grandma Great was anxious to meet her grandbaby. Beyond precious. So happy she made the trip.

Four. Lovely ladies.

Five. Hippity Hop easter egg hunt today.

Raining here. April showers bring May flowers! Time to get packing for Florida! EXCITED!

Sunday Snippets

Baby Madelyn Ann came home today. Mommy and baby are fine. Jojo likes her new little sister but, don't be calling her Maddie. You'll be corrected, "it's madelyn" she'll say.

Had Mom and Phil over for lunch. Chicken spaghetti and salad.

Chocolate chip cookies warm from the oven.

Extra batch for mom to take home!

The sun is shining. Richie is taking his motorcycle out for a quick spin around the block. Still quite chillyut there.

Busy week coming up!

Friday Five

One. It snowed last night....for real. We came home around 10:45 p.m. And it was a blizzard. Ground covered today. For real!

Two. We had our baby girl born yesterday. She weighed 7 lbs and 10 ozs. Born 04-04-14. Easy to remember. Right now, she is baby no name. When I get the OK, I will post a picture and a name.

Three. I finished her baby blanket 12 hours early. She was born at 8:30 a.m. Blanket completed Thursday 8:30 p.m.

Four. Getting ready for Florida.....facial this past week, next up pedicure, eyebrows, haircut and color.

Five. We put up a BlueBird Box. I swear I saw a bluebird in our yard so I want a nest in our yard. Went to The Nuthatch and learned all about them. Hubby placed it in an eastern direction, away from predators, open area....now we watch. All we saw out there so far was a possum.

Have a fun weekend. Do something exciting...OK!

Or don't you care for them?

Hamilton's Kitchen in Winter Park FL has just what I' m looking for. A bloody mary bar!

Now that's what I call a bloody mary! We had one at Bar Louie in Orlando and that one will be difficult to beat.

So, how do you like your Bloody Mary? Hot, spicy, lots of garnish? Do tell! I'll keep you posted on the winner.
